      Microsoft BizSpark Program
      NGM focuses on developing enterprises in South Africa that will see us create and preserve jobs within SMME companies. This is based on our commitment to support the Government's millennium development goals. As a Microsoft Network partner we have been tasked to design interventions that address the unique challenges that young businesses face. The key objective of Microsoft BizSpark is to enable and support the local software economy. Enabling the IT sector is an area specified by the South African government for support and the encouragement of further development. With the BizSpark Program we are able to provide significant value and the necessary tools to build highly innovative solutions using the latest Microsoft technologies. Providing entrepreneurs fast and easy access to current full-featured Microsoft development tools and production licenses of server products, with no upfront costs and minimal requirements. Our focus remains on young black men and women SMME entrepreneurs who have successfully generated sustainable job creation and socio-economic development in urban and rural communities. Our strategic blend of financial support and incubator-style mentorship allows our BizSpark incubatees to be independent and to grow. Our input in areas such as corporate governance, management, legal issues, accounting, company secretarial functions, public relations, safety, health and the environment has contributed to the success of our approach to enterprise development. The programme has seen us take 15 SMMEs through virtual incubation, capacitation, technical skills training and development interventions.
    2. Incubating 15 SMMEs

      i.e. NEW and Existing SMMEs in the Software and Applications development and taking them through a current state analysis,Desired Future State, GapAnalysis, Implementation of the NGM support strategy.

    Geared Innovation
    Geared Innovation is a company started by two young graduates previously employed under the NGM Driving mobility internship programme in 2013. They are a progressive company involved in the development of innovative mobile solutions. Starting out with a solution called Iwant with the hope of penetrating the customised search App market. The company currently has 3 mobile solutions and is well under way in launching the third. They have had tremendous success through the programme and have also developed the LED App, which was secured through the support and linkages we provide to our clients. The success of the App led to the municipality’s request for Geared Innovation to secure repeat business from the municipality. Geared Innovation are current developing a Tourism App for the Municipality.
    Afriscape A start-up company that developed a Hospital Food Distribution Application. In joining the programme the solution was in its early stages of development and the entrepreneur had not done any development on the product in over a year prior to joining the programme. We have assisted the company to secure critical development tools and support that led to the completion of the product. The entrepreneur is currently in negotiation to implement the solution into the public sector system. The company is developing a second offering that will be launched soon.

      Appropriate partnership mechanisms between government, the private sector, and civil society can enhance the ability of the private sector to accelerate job creation within an Enterprise Development programme. This is to ensure social capital is nurtured at the local level, empowered and drawn upon. All spheres of government and business need to co-operate in order to establish a job creation economic growth path and to ensure inter-sectoral collaboration between line departments at national, provincial and local government levels.

      Eskom SOC

      New Generation Mindset was recently appointed by Eskom foundation to establish a Hybrid incubator in the Kouga region and assist the Eskom SD & L division in fulfilling their development goals country wide. The SDP entails regional road shows in awareness of the support we provide to SMMEs.

      This proud endeavour will not just see Eskom achieving its goal of erecting a world class power plant in the area by 2030, but it will also make a significant contribution to the economic and social development of the area. The impact of our Hybrid Incubator will not only be felt in the area, the district, the town, the streets and houses of Humansdorp but also in the in the hearts of the people who live there and who, for the first time will benefit in a small way from such a massive enterprise!

      • This programme also enables the young entrepreneur wishing to formalise his business to walk into the Start-up Support Centre and receive assistance with range of services that will help him to register his business and to take the first steps into the world of business as an owner of his/her own business.

      Ekurhuleni Municipality

      New Generation Mindset developed the Ekurhuleni Mobility Development Strategy, this was developed within the context of the empowerment of communities and includes programs that would encourage civil society, to promote the uptake and usage of ICT and Telecommunication and in particular Mobile applications. Public participation in decision making and a democratic culture is essential in fostering the use of ICT and Telecommunication as social coherence platforms for nation building. It is in this way that the sector will promote sustainable job creation. Ekurhuleni Metropolitan clearly acknowledges that Information, Communication Technologies (ICTs) and Mobility play a significant role in speeding up the integration of services for the development of all communities and enhance the use of technology in all sectors, to include specifically, education, health care, smart utility management , public safety and security, small enterprises and agriculture. However, the main pillar that will ensure the realisation of this goal is the innovative partnerships and programs that will enhance the use of ICTs and develops Mobility entrepreneurs and /or specialists as platforms to promote social cohesion, nation building, sustainable job creation and poverty alleviation. The main goal of this agreement is, therefore, to form innovative and strategic partnerships between Ekurhuleni local government and the private sector in rendering entrepreneurial incubation, development programs and training to beneficiaries of ICT and Mobile applications development focused initiatives within the Local Economic Development strategic framework of Local Municipalities. Recognition for Youth Development: The Ekurhuleni Municipality has given the award for Best Corporate Citizen and Partner on Youth Development to New Generation Mindset (NGM) for its on-going commitment to job creation and the promotion of economic growth in the city of Ekurhuleni. NGM received this award at the City’s 2nd annual Career Expo and Job Summit, held between the 9th and 12 of June 2014 in Boksburg. NGM’s award recognises its dedication to making a significant impact on two of South Africa’s most pressing concerns of youth unemployment and economic growth. NGM’s success stems from its unique approach to business incubation. NGM’s Hybrid Incubator – the first of its kind in in South Africa – adopts a unique approach to the development of SMMEs. Through its Hybrid Incubator, NGM has built a track record of helping entrepreneurs build businesses that are able to compete in the marketplace, and meaningful innovative and strategic partnerships that benefit all parties. Through NGM’s partnership with the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality, Microsoft, Nokia, the MICT Seta, and other key telecommunications and information technology partners, skilled youth and aspirant entrepreneurs are working to develop mobile technology solutions for Local Government to aid improved service delivery.
